First in our Notable Neighbors “Volunteer Spotlight” is Tina Taylor. She is one of the PORCH Charlotte founders. When she is not collecting, sorting and delivering food you can find her working as an Athletic Trainer and Anatomy teacher at Charlotte Country Day School or studying for her Masters in School Counseling at UNCC. She is a full time dog mom to Roscoe, who you may be lucky enough to spot helping her collect donations during the monthly food drives!
How did you get involved with PORCH? I’ve always wanted to help children, it has been my passion for as long as I can remember. Alexis, PORCH Charlotte’s other founder, actually found PORCH online and sent it to me and I instantly fell in love with the simplicity of it. After a 1am text conversation and some encouragement from a few friends, and the help of Christine from PORCH Chapel Hill, we launched in November 2015 and never looked back!
What is your favorite meal? If I could eat only one meal for the rest of my life it would be my Dad’s steak tips and onion potatoes. That is my favorite home cooked meal hands down, but ever since I moved South biscuits and gravy have been my go to!
Least favorite meal? I am a huuuuge texture person. I refuse to eat anything mushy, so mashed potatoes, oatmeal, grits anything like that. I also really don’t like much seafood
Favorite hobby? I love being outside and active! Hiking is definitely one of my favorites and recently I have fallen back in love with riding bicycles.. anyone in Charlotte I highly recommend renting a B-Cycle and reliving your childhood!!
